I speak to executives who approve technology decisions they cannot personally audit.

I have run the same company since 1995, and I am building fiber into towns that have never had it. Both jobs make me accountable for the advice I give.

Signature talks

Three talks, adapted to the room

What to spend your one budget cycle on

Draft copy — talk not yet confirmed

keynote · board session · 45 min

For CEOs, boards, and owners of companies that carry real technology risk and have no full-time technology staff to hand it to

  • How to tell which of your technology problems will actually cost you money, and which ones only score badly on a report
  • A way to compare a security purchase against a hiring decision using the same numbers
  • What to ask a vendor after they have told you the price

Building on a public deadline

Draft copy — talk not yet confirmed

keynote · 45 min

For Association and industry audiences, economic development groups, and executives whose work now depends on infrastructure someone else has to deliver

  • What changes about a project when the deadline is public and the money is federal
  • How to hold a subcontractor to a schedule you do not control
  • Why the communities that get service last are the ones the market priced correctly and the policy priced differently

Adopting AI without betting the company on it

Draft copy — talk not yet confirmed

keynote · half-day workshop · 45 min

For Executive teams deciding where AI goes first, and what they are willing to put into someone else's model

  • Which decisions to make before a pilot, because they are expensive to reverse after one
  • Where your data goes when an employee pastes it into a tool you did not buy
  • A way to judge a vendor's AI claim without a technical evaluation

What he is accountable for

The fiber build

  • Awarded federal broadband funding across multiple states to build fiber in rural communities that have never had it — one of the larger rural buildouts awarded to an independent operator.
  • Hundreds of miles of network under construction, reaching communities measured in hundreds to low thousands of addresses.
  • Accountable for construction timelines, subcontractors, and federal compliance milestones, not just for opinions about them.

Awarded funding is not revenue and not yet built network. No dollar figure appears on this site by design — it would be stale within a quarter.

Book

The CEO's Digital Survival Guide

Written for the executive who has to approve technology decisions without the background to evaluate them, and who will own the outcome either way.
